This week in Writing the boys and girls worked on word choice and were inspired by a book of poetry called Halloween Hoot and Howl. We wrote one as a class and then the students either paired up or wrote one on their own. Here is our class poem that we wrote together:

Halloween Night

Black vampire bats screeching at midnight

Frightful haunted houses sway, clicking and clacking in the dark

Green goblins prowling through a foggy graveyard

Frightful faced Jack o' lanterns glowing at night

Dead moaning mummies rising from their coffins

Zombies terrifying trick or treaters in the night

We are the creatures of Halloween night....

We also finished our second Unit Math test, please go over the test with your child and sign the test and return it to school on Monday. Starting Monday, Miss. Sawka will be launching our next unit, Geometry.
