Today the Grade Fours were lucky to have a trip to the Ontario Science Centre. Our agenda was packed, we started off with a quick bite and then headed to the IMAX Under the Sea movie experience, where the kids sat back and enjoyed the sights and sounds of this amazing habitat. You can take a sneak peek of the movie trailer by clicking on the right hand side of my blog. Next we were off to an amazing hands on scientific experience. The children were put into small groups and then were each given a science experiment to conduct. They had to test the hardness of minerals at station #1. At station #2 they were testing the colour of minerals with The Streak test. Off at station #3 they were hard at work finding the difference between a meteorite and a rock. We learned that meteorites have dimples! And last, but not least, at station #4 we were finding out how many minerals we actually use everyday; from fluourite in our toothpaste, to graphite in our pencils and copper in pennies, we use minerals everyday and don't realize it. It was a busy but very informative day at the Science Centre!
